Victorian Pathways Certificate

The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is a new inclusive, and flexible certificate.

It replaces the Foundation VCAL program. It offers an engaging curriculum and additional support for students to develop the work-related skills and capabilities to succeed.

The VPC is normally completed in years 11 and 12 but is flexible, so it can be started earlier or finished over a longer period than 2 years. At Wayi School, the VPC may be completed in years 10, 11 and 12.

VPC has four study areas:

  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Work Related Skills
  • Personal Development Skills

Each VPC unit requires 100 nominal hours, of which at least 50 hours are scheduled classroom instruction.

Students may also participate in VET units or spend some time in a workplace as part of their learning. This is known as Structured Workplace Learning.

Students must complete at least 12 units, including:

  • 2 units of VPC Literacy
  • 2 units of VPC Numeracy
  • 4 VPC Work Related Skills units
  • 4 VPC Personal Development Skills units

Many students will undertake more than 12 units in their VPC.
