Wayi embraces community involvement and values the important role that can play in meeting the needs of the community and our students.
Placing volunteers within the classroom can be distracting to routines for many of our students; our students learn best with consistency and structure within their learning program. Volunteers in the classroom also can increase the responsibility of the staff within the room as they will need to explain the needs and programs of individual students; these conversations can take time away from the teacher working directly with the students.
Volunteers will be placed to support administration responsibilities; these tasks include, but are not limited to, laminating, resourcing, supporting the library with barcoding and covering books. These duties are time-consuming, and we appreciate all the support we can get to have the resources ready to support positive learning environments.
Families are invited to connect with each other and support our school community through volunteering opportunities each Thursday between 10am to 11am. Coffee and cake will be provided by our VPC during this time. Please notify the school if you would like to attend.
