We understand that starting at a new school can be both exciting and overwhelming for both students and parents/carers alike. For this reason, we have developed transition/orientation program that are designed to provide optimal opportunities for our students to achieve long term successful placement in our new school environment. To ensure we build on our students’ strengths and achieve their goals, our new students and their families are supported before, during and after their transition to their new learning environment of Wayi School.
Prep Transition
Prep Transition Plan for 2023
In 2023, prep students are invited to visit Wayi from 9:30-10:30 during Week 9, 10, 11 and 12. The following dates are:
- Monday 27th November
- Monday 4th December
- Monday 11th December
- Monday 18th December
- Tuesday 19th December
- Wednesday 20th December
Parents, carers and guardians will be invited to attend a session while their child is completing the transition session.
Prep Transition Plan for Term 1, 2024
All prep students will have a delayed start with a slow extension of the day for the first two weeks. A slower transition can help alleviate stress and anxiety for both students and parents. Allowing students to enter the school at a more relaxed time during the initial weeks helps them become familiar with the school setting and routines. A gradual introduction to the school routine can contribute to a positive and successful experience for the students as they begin their school journey.
Student Transition
Term 4, Week 12 – 18th to the 20th of December
Transition week is the time to support students to move from their existing class to their new class for 2024. This year’s transition will commence in Week 12 being from Monday the 18th of December until Friday the 20th of December 2023. Relevant information will be communicated to the families closer to the Orientation.
