School Breakfast Clubs Program has reached a milestone with 1,000 schools now participating across Victoria, including Wayi School. This program allows more students to learn with a full stomach and get the most out of school.
More than 15 million nutritious meals have been served to students since the program’s launch in 2016. Delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government, the program providing free breakfasts for kids at participating Victorian schools.
Breakfast Club is available to all students at Wayi. Some students will access it from 8:40am-9:00am; however, our tiered approach to accessibility and delivery is applied as individual needs must be taken into consideration.
All teachers must check students’ medical information such as allergies, dietary needs etc., are identified before foods are made available to classrooms and/or individual students.
Some students will transition straight to the Food Tech room on arrival at school before proceeding to their classroom. These students may also become student leaders of the Breakfast Club and will be able to take on various roles to support other classrooms in accessing supplies and breakfast orders.
Classrooms with kitchenettes will be provided with their own Breakfast Club supplies in order to prepare breakfast for students in their rooms. Classes may transition to the Food Tech room with their teacher and ES support for Breakfast Club after 9am.
