CHANGES TO HOW WE SHARE STUDENT PHOTOS
At Wayi School, the safety, privacy and wellbeing of our students remain at the centre of everything we do.
Following careful consideration and endorsement by School Council, Wayi School has decided that, from Monday, 31 August 2026, identifiable photos of students will no longer be published on our public social media pages or in the online version of Wayi Word available through our school website.
Once an image is shared publicly, the school has limited control over how it may be saved, copied, redistributed or altered. Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have also made it easier for images to be manipulated or used in ways that were not originally intended. This change is a proactive step to strengthen our child-safe practices and protect students’ privacy and digital identities.
From this date, photos from classroom activities, learning experiences, student achievements and whole-school events will be shared with families through Seesaw, which provides a more private and controlled environment.
Our social media pages and online Wayi Word newsletters will remain active and will continue to share general school news, important information, upcoming events and celebrations that do not include identifiable images of students.
The school’s photo permission process will be updated by Friday, 4 September 2026. The updated permission will ask families to indicate whether they are comfortable with their child’s photo being:
– Shared with other Wayi School families through Seesaw; or
– Shared strictly and privately with their own family through Seesaw.
Further information will be provided to families about completing the updated permission.
Please note that student images published before 31 August 2026 will not be removed from previous social media posts, website content or archived editions of Wayi Word. The new arrangements apply to content published from this date onwards.
We appreciate the understanding and support of our families as we introduce this change and continue working together to protect the safety and privacy of every student at Wayi School.

At Wayi School, we believe our families are an important part of our school community, and your feedback helps us grow, reflect and improve.
We are inviting all parents, caregivers and guardians to take part in the 2026 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey. The survey provides an opportunity to share your experiences and perspectives about Wayi School and helps us better understand what is working well and where we can continue to improve.
The survey seeks feedback on:
– School climate – how welcoming, safe and supportive our school feels
– Community engagement in learning – how families and the school work together to support learning
– Teaching practices for student engagement and outcomes – how our teaching supports students to engage, learn and achieve
– Attitudes towards school attendance – perspectives on the importance of regular school attendance
Why take part?
– It takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
– The survey is open from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026.
– It can be completed online using a computer, tablet or smartphone.
– It is available in English and 10 additional languages.

Every voice counts!
Hearing from as many Wayi School families as possible will help us better understand our community, celebrate what we are doing well and identify areas where we can continue to strengthen our school.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and making Wayi School the best it can be!
If you have any questions or need assistance completing the survey, please contact Natasa Vignjevic-Jockovic.
