We understand that starting at a new school can be both exciting and overwhelming for both students and parents/carers alike. For this reason, we have developed transition/orientation program that are designed to provide optimal opportunities for our students to achieve long term successful placement in our new school environment. To ensure we build on our students’ strengths and achieve their goals, our new students and their families are supported before, during and after their transition to their new learning environment of Wayi School.

In 2025, prep students are invited to visit Wayi from 9:30-10:30 during Week 8, 9, 10 and 11. The following dates are:
- Wednesday 26th November
- Wednesday 3rd December
- Wednesday 10th December
- Monday 15th December
- Tuesday 16th December
- Wednesday 18th December
Prep Transition Plan for Term 1, 2026
All prep students will have a delayed start with a slow extension of the day for the first two weeks. A slower transition can help alleviate stress and anxiety for both students and parents. Allowing students to enter the school at a more relaxed time during the initial weeks helps them become familiar with the school setting and routines. A gradual introduction to the school routine can contribute to a positive and successful experience for the students as they begin their school journey.
New Student Transition
New Students Transition Plan for Term 4, 2025
All new students (excluding Preps) will participate in transition activities on the following dates:
- Monday 8 December, Wednesday 10 December, Thursday 11 December
MEET THE TEACHER SESSIONS FROM 3:15 PM TO 3:30 PM
These sessions provide an opportunity for students and parents to meet their teacher, familiarise themselves with the classroom environment, and discuss any individual needs or questions.
- · Friday 19 December
New Students Transition Plan for Term 1, 2026
New students will officially join their 2026 class and begin attending full sessions.
Delayed Start for New Students
- Wednesday 28 January: New students will begin the school year with a delayed start, arriving at 9:30 AM.
- This allows for a gentler introduction to the school day, easing anxiety and providing time for orientation and settling in.
- Activities during this day should focus on welcoming the student, introducing key staff and peers, and familiarising them with school routines and spaces.
From Thursday 29 January onwards, new students will attend the full school day from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, consistent with all other students.
