CELEBRATIONS

School Council plays an important role in the governance of our school. We still have vacancies in our Parent Member and Community Member representative groups. We encourage parents, carers and guardians to consider nominating as a council member for the 2026/2027 School Council. No prior experience is required, as members are supported with opportunities to learn ‘on the job’. Meetings take place twice a term on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Please note that all nominees must hold a current Working with Children Check prior to nominating.
All available vacancies are outlined in the tile attached.
Nominations have been extended and now close at 4:00pm on Wednesday 25th February 2026.
For further information please contact us on 03 7300 6600.
To obtain a nomination form, please email wayi.school@education.vic.gov.au. Hard copies are also available from the Admin Building or can be sent home in your child’s school bag.

All Wayi School community members are invited to have a ‘Latte with Leanne’ at Wayi School from 1:30pm-2:30pm next Monday, 2nd March (Week 6).
Our special guest attendee for March 2nd is Charisse Garcia, one of Wayi School’s Learning Specialists.
The main topics being discussed will be Teaching and Learning as well as our Phonics Program.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP using the below link:

Latte with Leanne’ Community Connections is a casual morning tea, aimed to build and strengthen our connections with our school community – depending on your strengths, availability, and motivation, the morning could involve:
– General conversation with other parents/carers/guardians (for those of you who just want to socialise and get to know other Wayi families)
– Resourcing support (for those of you who like to socialise but keep busy at the same time)
We hope to see you there!

The Labour Day Public Holiday is in two weeks time on Monday 9th March (week 7).
Wayi School will be closed on this day (no school for students)

KEY WORD SIGN OF THE WEEK
For Term 1 of 2026 we will have a focus on key school signs.

Performance: Both hands in C Shape, move one towards your body, the other away, then back again.
Term 1 in Room 11 has been busy, full of fun and learning! For the past 4 weeks, students have been enjoying participating in a variety of music and PE activities. This has been a great opportunity for them to enjoy the sun, interact with their peers, and learn new skills! Bike Riding is a favourite in Room 11, which we do every Friday. As well as this, we have been enjoying sharing the swing together, playing Hopscotch and bouncing basketballs! During music, our focus has been on using body percussion and making patterns by clapping, stomping, clicking and tapping! We have had a fantastic start to 2026 and are looking forward to the next 4 weeks!
