ROOMS 12 & 20

Room 12

We have started the literacy journey by engaging in several activities working towards the achievement of our set goals. In all activities we use  our voice and visuals. Every student engages in literacy activities as soon as they arrive in the room. They follow visuals on unpacking their bags and engage in their morning book. Session one is all about literacy, moving minds, welcome circle, speaking and listening, reading and viewing and writing. We are working on activities like poster making, name tracing and writing, letter and word sounds, matching words and pictures, sorting uppercase and lowercase letters. During meals, we use placemats with visuals for “eat, yummy, drink, more, yucky, finished etc” to improve our communication skills. Happy literacy journey, Room 12!

Room 20

This week, Room 20 has been working hard on decoding new words by sounding them out and blending the sound-spelling patterns. Students are gaining confidence in applying these strategies to read unfamiliar words, strengthening their reading skills and building a solid foundation for future learning. Keep up the great work, Room 20!
