TERM 2 CLASSROOM INFORMATION SESSION

A friendly reminder our term 2 classroom information session will be held this Wednesday April 29th (week 2) starting promptly at 4pm and concluding at 4.30pm. Please note that this session is for parents and carers only (no students). Unfortunately, we are unable to supervise students during this time, so we kindly ask that students do not attend.

The focus for this session will be mealtimes (morning tea and lunch), classroom routines and how we build independence.

We understand that arranging supervision for students can be challenging. To support participation families will also have the option to join the session online via Webex. Information about the topics to be covered will be sent home in the coming days.

We look forward to seeing you online or in person for this session.

‘LATTE WITH LEANNE’ COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

All Wayi School community members are invited to have a ‘Latte with Leanne’ at Wayi School from 1:30pm-2:30pm on Monday, 4th May (Week 3).

Our special guest attendees for May 4th are Teagan Cullen, Wayi Schools Speech Pathology Leader, and Cara Suen, Wayi Schools Occupational Therapy Leader.

The main topics being discussed will be fostering positive mealtimes/introducing new foods and supporting communication.

Latte with Leanne’ Community Connections is a casual morning tea, aimed to build and strengthen our connections with our school community – depending on your strengths, availability, and motivation, the morning could involve:
– General conversation with other parents/carers/guardians (for those of you who just want to socialise and get to know other Wayi families)
– Resourcing support (for those of you who like to socialise but keep busy at the same time) ‎

We hope to see you there!

ROOM 21

Continuous Reporting Focus – Personal and Social Capabilities (Self and Social)

This week in room 21, students focused on the importance of trying new things during Personal and Social Capability lesson. Students were encouraged to choose a book of their interest to read as part of a mindfulness activity. This quiet time after outdoor play is important in helping students regulate their energy, calm their bodies, and transition back into learning, supporting a more focused and ready-to-learn mindset.
It was wonderful to see students making choices based on their interests. Some selected books about dinosaurs and princesses, while others engaged with jigsaw puzzle books or sensory books. This approach supported students in making independent choices while participating in a calm and engaging routine, with many showing enthusiasm and curiosity in their selections.
