AITKIN BLVD PARKING

Please avoid parking on the footpath on Aitkin Blvd when collecting or dropping off students to school or after/before school care. The school has been notified by families that this is a hazard as they are unable to use the footpath to walk students safely to and from the buildings. The general community is also impacted as they cannot utilise the footpath.

Should this continue there is the possibility that the council may be notified to address the issue.

We appreciate your attention to this matter.

STUDENT SUPPORT GROUPS AT WAYI SCHOOL (SSG)

A Student Support Group (SSG) is a partnership between the school, parents/guardians, and student. The group works together to plan and support the student’s educational, health, social, cultural and emotional well-being. SSG meetings are held termly in week 5 and week 6, and allow teachers, parents/carers and the student an opportunity to discuss your child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). They may occur in person, on the phone or on Microsoft Teams. It will be assumed that the meeting will take place in person, please notify the classroom teacher if you would like the SSG meeting to occur over the phone or via Microsoft Teams.
Bookings will be available on Compass from Monday Week 4. Please log in to Compass and choose a time slot to book a meeting time with the teacher. Please contact the school if you have any issues logging into Compass or booking a time for the SSG.
Parent parking is available on Aitkin Boulevard, please enter the school via the Darrang (administration building).

CLASS IN FOCUS

ROOM 11

Room 11 have been hard at work doing a range of literacy activities already this year! We have been using our AAC devices/systems (TD Snap and LAMP) to communicate requests, comments, preferences, and likes. Some students in Room 11 are learning how to identify and match letters of the alphabet, with others learning to identify the letter/sound that words begin with. We have begun making alphabet books and mini-individual dictionaries in our classroom this week.
