RUGBY FRIDAYS – WURRU WURRU STUDENTS

On Fridays in weeks 5 and 6, our Wurru Wurru students enthusiastically participated in the rugby program facilitated by Rugby Victoria coaches, thanks to the grant received from Sporting Schools.

The coaches provided an inclusive environment where each student could develop their skills, enjoy physical activity, and foster teamwork. This initiative not only promoted fitness but also boosted the students’ confidence and social interaction, making the program a resounding success.

NATIONAL SORRY DAY 26TH MAY & NATIONAL RECONSILIATION WEEK 27TH MAY – 3RD JUNE

National Sorry Day, also known as the National Day of Healing, is held annually to commemorate the Stolen Generations. This day forms part of the ongoing efforts between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Australians towards reconciliation.
National Reconciliation Week is widely celebrated by schools, workplaces, community organisations and individuals, and is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements. The combined theme across these dates is ‘Now More Than Ever’, which encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation.
To find out more about National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week, please visit: Reconciliation Victoria https://www.reconciliation.org.au/

VICTORIAN PREMIERS’ READING CHALLENGE

We’re thrilled to announce that Wayi School is joining the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge! This fantastic initiative is now accepting entries and we couldn’t be more excited to get our students involved.
The PRC application boasts a variety of engaging features, such as a comprehensive library catalogue complete with book images and blurbs, a sleek and user-friendly interface, and the ability to earn badges as students reach reading milestones.
You can also mark favourite books, rate them with stars, and even write reviews! This Challenge is open to all Victorian children and aims to foster a love for reading and promote literacy development. Personalised logins have been sent home, and remember, it’s not a competition but a personal journey to read a set number of books by September 6, 2024.
Every child who completes the Challenge will receive a special certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

To read the Premier’s letter to parents, view the booklist and for more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, visit: https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge
